Many websites asks you to fill some basic information to have 100% completeness profile. For example, in Linkedin, you need to have 3 recommendations if you fill all other information. In Twitter, you don’t have that policy but its recommended to use your real name, location, and add your real avatar picture. Today, I will discuss other elements in detail to help you build a WOW profile.

1 – Background

I usually follow people after enjoying their tweets, Blog posts or being referred by someone of my network. Most of the time, I don’t look at their Twitter background even it is one of the factors to make a brand Twitter profile. Many examples are there but I think Paulo Coleho has the best ever Twitter background. What an amazing way to thank those who bought and read his books.

May be you are not an author but you have your own company or business. I think Maria Duron has a background that’s eye catchy and inviting you to connect to one of her social networks. Although Twitter doesn’t have a plan to hyperlink the background but I think Maria’s background is enough to make you take an action if you are interested in her services.

Other good examples includes: Chris Brogan, Tony Robbins, Olivier Blanchard, Denise Wakeman,  etc.

For me, I’m using Twilk.com, It is free service that @maltaee Background” src=”http://altaeeblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/mm-231×300.jpg” alt=”" width=”196″ height=”268″ />takes your Twitter followers’ profile photos and puts them on your Twitter background. You can remove the site logo by paying $5/month. What interesting is that it shows on both sides the more people you interact with, and it’s by somehow true. If you focus on the partial background, you will find: Walter Akana, Julie WalraveRyan Rancatore, Heather Coleman, Julien Smith, Jacqui Barrett-Poindexter and many other great friends.

So, you can see that I take these examples because they stand out and I still remember them since my first  visit. This is what your Twitter profile, resume, Blog, etc. need to look in order to be memorable.

2 – Web

Well, maybe you said any link will work. I had discussion with my Tweeple about which website to link here. Some said Linkedin, some said your company and other said your blog. I will go with your blog link as a preference, you can put whatever you like but when people like your bio and tweets, it is better to direct them to something that add more values to them. Never add link to your $$$ stuff, leave that to the end. Work to earn their trust and selling comes later.

3 – Bio

I’ve changed my Twitter bio about 100+ times and I’m still doing that. Well, I have to agree that we should be able to summarize our experience in one personal brand statement but when it comes to Twitter, people want to know you from your bio in order to add you in the correct Twitter list.

You need to give a few simple words of self description so people can know who you are. Now, I’m using part of #FF keywords as a Bio. Many of my followers like it so I will use it for a while and get some inputs.

Behind that profile, there must be a good tweets. Yes, YOU could have the WOW profile but without engaging with your followers, shooting them  a #Follow Friday and the most important sharing good contents and tips, YOU are doing it wrong. Here is good resources to read, I wrote to Wear These Personalities for More Twitter Followers & How to Attract More Followers with Personal Branding, my Trust Agent John Antonios wrote about Twitter – The 10 Commandments. Remember, the power of Twitter is in your sharing, engaging, caring, retweeting and not in selling.

What do you think? Which background you like the most? Did you vote in the above poll? Do you prefer keywords or personal brand statement in the bio?

Share your thought, maybe you have something better than my examples. Share them below and lets have informative discussion.

P.S. If you are not on Twitter, you can go to sleep NOW!
